Getting Started
Ndungu Consulting teaches adults 50+ how to use everyday technology, one-on-one and at your own pace. Lessons cover computers, smartphones, email, Microsoft Word and Excel, AI tools like ChatGPT, and how to stay safe online. Sessions are taught by Elizabeth (Liz) Ndungu, the founder. Nothing is too basic, and no question is asked too many times.
Most clients are adults 50 and older who feel behind with technology and want to learn without being rushed or judged. Ndungu Consulting also works with families helping a parent get set up, working professionals who need stronger Microsoft Office and AI skills, and university students who want help with digital organization.
That is a common starting point. You are not expected to know anything in advance. A first session can start with turning the computer on, what the parts are called, and how to use a mouse or trackpad. You set the speed, and we stay on one thing until you are comfortable with it.
Book online through the booking page on this website, or call 410-929-2326 between 10am and 5pm [Monday to Thursday]. You pick the day and time that suits you. Tell Liz what you are stuck on when you book, and that is where your first session starts.
Both. In-person sessions are available in the Baltimore metro area, including Middle River, Maryland. Online sessions run on Zoom and are open to clients anywhere.
No. You get a link in your confirmation email. Click it at the session time and Zoom opens in your browser. If you are on a phone or tablet, Liz will walk you through the setup in the first few minutes. Getting Zoom working can be the first lesson.
Sessions and Pricing
One-on-one sessions start at $50 for 30 minutes. Weekly and monthly packages may cost less per session, and custom programs are priced by scope. Current prices for every session type are listed on the booking page, so you can see exactly what you are paying before you book.
Sessions run 30, 60 or 90 minutes. Thirty minutes suits one specific problem, like setting up an email signature. Sixty minutes suits learning something new, like using Excel or setting up a new phone. If you are new to computers, 60 minutes gives you room to practice without rushing. Sessions over 60 minutes can be arranged.
The first session is a working session. Liz asks what you want to be able to do, looks at the device you actually use, and you start on it that day. You finish with at least one thing you can do on your own.
Most clients feel confident with the basics, meaning email, video calls, safe browsing, and saving files, within four to eight sessions. Some people book one session to solve one problem. Others book monthly to keep learning. There is no required package.
Yes. Reschedule or cancel using the link in your booking confirmation email, or call 410-929-2326. Please give at least 48 hours’ notice where you can, so the time can be offered to someone else. Cancelling within 24 hours incurs a cancellation fee.
Not showing up for the session forfeits one hour deposit.
Yes, and many people do. You can book and pay on their behalf, sit in on the first session, or leave them to it. Tell Liz what they are struggling with when you book. Sessions can also be given as a gift.
One-on-one is the standard, because the pace is set by one person rather than a room. Group sessions and workshops for libraries, senior communities, churches, and employers can be arranged by request. Contact Liz to discuss dates and numbers.
What You Can Learn
Windows and Mac computers, iPhone and Android phones and tablets, Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams, Google tools including Gmail, Drive and Docs, Zoom, and everyday sites for banking and shopping. If you use something that is not on this list, ask.
ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and Perplexity. You learn what these tools are for, how to ask a question and get a clear answer back, and how to check what they tell you. You also learn what not to type into them, so your personal and financial details stay private.
Yes. Scam awareness is one of the most requested topics. You learn the signs of a fake email, text, or phone call, how to check a link before you click it, what to do if you have already clicked, and how to set up your accounts so a stolen password does less damage.
Yes. Book a 30 minute session and bring the one problem. Many people start this way and come back later for something else. You are not signing up for a course.
Yes. Sessions are broken into short steps, with one idea at a time and written practice material to take away. The pace is yours, and repeating something is normal rather than a problem. Ndungu Consulting teaches skills and does not provide medical or psychological treatment.
No. Repair services fix a broken machine and hand it back to you. Ndungu Consulting teaches you how to use the machine, so you can do it yourself next time. If your device turns out to need a repair, Liz will say so and point you toward someone who does that work.
Group classes teach a set lesson at one speed to a room of people. A one-on-one session is built around your device, your goals, and your pace, and you can ask the same question as many times as you need. Free classes are a good place to start. Sessions here are for when you want help with your own setup.
Books and Guides
Ndungu Consulting publishes plain English guides on using AI, basic computer skills, Microsoft Word etc. They are written for beginners, with numbered steps and pictures, so you can keep one open beside you while you work.
The download link appears on screen as soon as your payment goes through, and a copy is emailed to you. The files are PDFs, so they open on a computer, phone, or tablet. If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder, if not please email: info@ndunguconsulting.com.
Yes. Every guide is set in large type with wide spacing, short steps, and clear screenshots. They are made to be read comfortably without a magnifier.
